A number of Alexander County Fire Departments responded this morning around 4:30 to the Alexander Correctional Institute after an alarm alerted 911 of a fire.
Units are still on the scene, smoke can been seen coming from the extreme western side of the facility.
Major Jason Moore of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office says the facility is secure and no injuries have been reported.
