Boone Police Charge Man After His Vehicle Strikes A Bicyclist

Boone Police say they’ve charged a man who while driving impaired struck a bicyclist and left the scene.

21-year- old Alejandro Facundo of Greensboro was arrested Thursday, May 29th and charged with felony hit & run, driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, operating a vehicle without two headlamps and a mirror violation.

On Thursday, Boone Police responded to a vehicle crash involving a bicycle in the area of Highway 421 and Bamboo Road. A bicyclist suffering from serious injuries and was transported to the Watauga Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Facundo was found and placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.
