Boone Man Charged With Murder After Overnight Shooting

The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that occurred Thursday evening at a location off Highway 194 North.

Alexander Matthew Jackson, age 25 of Boone, was taken into custody following his contact with 911 communications shortly after the incident. Jackson is reported to have admitted to authorities that he shot Michael Ross, 38, of Elk Park, NC.

Jackson has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Watauga County Jail with no bond.
