Boone, NC – On Thursday, May 14, 2026, at approximately 11:42 a.m., a Boone Police officer responded to the area of 300 Brookhollow Road after receiving information that Jeremy John Mojica, age 36 of Boone, was trespassing in the vicinity.
The responding officer was familiar with Mojica and located him shortly after arriving in the area. While the officer was attempting to take Mojica into custody for the trespassing violation, Mojica attacked the officer. A physical altercation followed, during which the officer was injured.
Mojica then attempted to flee on foot. Despite being injured, the officer pursued Mojica while summoning additional assistance. Responding officers and emergency personnel arrived in the area and located Mojica a short time later, where he was attempting to conceal himself among brush and trees.
The injured officer was transported to Watauga Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Mojica was issued a $100,000 secured bond and given a court date of July 8, 2026.
