WILKESBORO – Blasting operations will occur on the U.S. 421 project in Wilkes County starting Thursday and continuing for three weeks.
From 9-11 a.m. on May 22, crews from Branch Civil Engineering will perform blasting operations on the south side of U.S. 421 and Winkler Mill Road Ext.
Drivers can anticipate short delays for safety during these blasting hours. Law enforcement and contract crews will direct traffic through this area immediately before blasting operations begin.
These operations will take place on Mondays through Thursdays over the next three weeks, during the same hours, and when weather permits. Message boards will be set along U.S. 421 and U.S. 421 Business to inform motorists of these times and any potential changes.
This is part of the initial grading and utility work necessary for the roadway improvements.
