Newton– On Saturday, October 21, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Catawba County on US 321 near NC 10 (mile marker 37). A 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on US 321, drove off the left side of the road, and struck the median cable guidewires.
The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
During the on-scene investigation, the northbound and southbound lanes of US 321 were partially closed in the area for two hours. The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing circumstances in the collision.
The deceased is identified as 66-year-old Encoh Taylor Dehart of Hendersonville, NC.
