Alexander County Woman Charged With Assaulting Officers

A Stony Point woman has been charged after allegedly assaulting two officers.

Brittany Leigh Ann Burks, age 35, was taken into custody by Probation and Parole Officers on Monday and charged with two counts of felony assault resulting in physical injury on a law enforcement officer and two counts of resisting arrest. She remains in custody as of earlier today.

In February, Burks was convicted of felony possession of a weapon on jail premises and filing a false police report. She was given a 24 month suspended sentence.

A court date is scheduled for the new charges on Monday, April 28th.
