An Alexander County teen has died as result of an accident.
The teen, said to be under the age of 16, was operating a dirt bike Sunday afternoon on Barrett Mountain Road west of Taylorsville. He was airlifted to a regional medical facility after he collided with a vehicle.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is expected to provide additional details later today.
Update
The NC Highway Patrol has identified the victim as 13-year old Skylar Alan Chapman of Taylorsville. He was operating the motorcycle on Barrett Mountain Road and collided head-on with a pickup truck.
