The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the addition of our newest piece of specialized equipment: the Batt-X armored vehicle. This vehicle was purchased from The Armored Group, located in Shelby, North Carolina. More than half of the funding for the Batt-X was obtained through drug asset forfeiture money, with the remaining balance coming from the Sheriff’s Office budget.
The Batt-X is a fully armored, multi-purpose vehicle designed to enhance the safety of both the public and first responders. It can be deployed during active-shooter incidents, armed barricade or negotiation situations, and high-risk rescue operations. The vehicle allows law enforcement and emergency medical personnel to be transported into dangerous environments while maintaining maximum protection.
In recent years, the Sheriff’s Office has relied on neighboring counties to provide armored resources during high-risk incidents. Although these partnerships have been invaluable, the growing need for our own dedicated vehicle has been clear. The Batt-X will ensure that our deputies—and the citizens we serve—have faster, safer response options when critical situations arise.
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has recognized the need for this capability for many years, and we are proud to finally bring this essential tool to our community.
