On Wednesday, February 11, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office regarding a bucket truck being used to cut down telephone wires in Davidson County.
The investigation led Alexander County Deputies to execute a search warrant at a residence off Devils Track Road in Alexander County. During the search, Officers located evidence related to several incidents involving stolen communication wire in both Alexander and Davidson counties.
As a result of the investigation, two individuals were arrested:

David Flake Stafford
Two counts of Felony Larceny
One count of Obtaining Property by False Pretense
Two counts of Injuring Utility Wires
Two counts of Injury to Property to Obtain Nonferrous Metal
Stafford was also served with multiple felony warrants from Davidson County. He is currently being held without bond at the Alexander County Detention Center. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 16.

Vetter was released from the Catawba County Detention Center after posting a $17,500 secured bond.
