Because of hazardous road conditions on back roads throughout the county, as well as lingering ice on school campuses, Alexander County Schools will observe a Remote Learning Day on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. All school buildings will be closed. Maintenance crews, along with contracted services, have begun the process of clearing school campuses; however, the ice accumulation is significant and conditions remain unsafe at this time.
