Alexander County Probation And Parole Officers Make A Pair Of Arrests

Officers from the Alexander County Office of Probation and Parole went to a residence on Jay Stafford Drive in Taylorsville on Wednesday. They arrested a pair of Taylorsville residents with assistance from Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.

34-year-old Yancey Obrian Tanner was charged with felony parole violation. He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Currently, Tanner is being held under an $11,000 secured bond in the Alexander County Detention Center.

Tanner is listed on the NC Sex-Offender Registry as the result of a 2011 conviction in Georgia for felony statutory rape. He served 10 years in prison.

35-year old-Teri Michelle Pitts was charged with felony probation violation, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and child abuse.

Pitts was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office in February and charged at that time with felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious physical injury. A child in her care had injested drugs. The child survived.  Pitts has a long list of previous convictions in Alexander and Catawba Counties for felony trafficking methamphetamine, obtaining property by false pretense, burglary, forgery, financial card fraud and assault on a government official.

Pitts remains in custody without bond.
