Alexander County Assault Sends Man To Hospital Monday Morning

Casey Charles Bentley, age 33, was arrested Monday morning following an incident at a boat ramp on Lake Hickory in the Bethlehem Community.

Bentley, from Lenoir is charged with assault-inflicting serious bodily injury. He allegedly attacked a man after the victim of the attack made inappropriate comments about Bentley’s teenage daughter. The location of the incident is reported to be the Wittenburg Access Area.

The extent of the assault led to the victim being transported to a regional medical facility with serious injuries. Sheriff Chad Pennell said Monday afternoon that no weapon was involved and the suspect has been cooperative with the investigation.

Bentley is no longer listed in custody. A bond of $75,000 had been listed earlier.
