September 19, 2026 By Richard C. Gilbert

Alexander Central 24 South Iredell 7

Troutman: Alexander Central dominated the Vikings in a game delayed by over 90 minutes due to lightening.

Aiden Daigle opened the scoring with a 24-yard field goal at the 4:27 mark of the opening quarter and the Cougars led 3-0.

AC would add a pair of scores in a span of less than 5 minutes in the second quarter. The scores came on a pair of touchdowns by Carsen Pruett. The sophomore had not seen action since the first half of the season opener at Newton-Conover. He suffered what was thought at the time to be a season-ending injury.

QB Jacob Hubbard hit Pruett with a 50-yard strike less than two minutes into the second quarter. With 9:50 left until halftime Hubbard threw a sideline pass to Afton Lesley who lateraled to Pruett and the nowhere-near lost for the season Cougar, raced to the end zone from 38 yards. AC led 17-0 at the half !

The visitors from Taylorsville took the second-half kick and marched 67 yards in 9 plays when Jaquis Parks rumbled -into the paint from 26 yards. ACHS was up 24-0.

The rest of the third-quarter and the final period was dominated by penalties and injuries. South Iredell was held to very little offense prior to a 91-yard drive culminated by Chance Ellershaw’s 19-yard catch from QB Tristan Cowen with 44 seconds remaining in the contest.

AC out-gained South 319 to 224 on the night. It’s rare when an Alexander Central team has over 100 yards through the air but Jacob Hubbard ended the night 7-12 for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaquis Parks led the rushing attack with 124 yards on 25 carries.

Reid Little topped the Blue and Gold defense with 9 tackles followed by Jayvian Rucker with 7, Jonas Henson 6 and Cole Pennell added 5. Joe Evans had an interception.

Alexander Central improves to 4-1 with a bye week scheduled next. South drops to 1-4.
