Alexander Central softball standout Kyla Hamby has committed to play at the University of Georgia. Hamby is a junior.
“I chose Georgia because I felt like it was exactly where the Lord had led me to be,” Hamby said. “I instantly fell in love with the coaching staff, and it feels like family. You couldn’t ask for better people who care so much about their athletes. They truly care about them as people and athletes. Their campus, facilities, and all the resources they have are top-notch. I have always wanted to be a Bulldog ever since watching them as a little girl. I look forward to competing at the SEC level.”
Georgia is where ACHS alum Chelsea Wilkinson played. Wilkinson is the pitching coach for the Lady Bulldogs.
Softball America tabs Hamby as “having an elite-level arm; her overhand velocity is her strongest weapon and brings a lot of options from the left side of the plate. She is a multi-tool athlete who can run, hit for power, and keep the defense guessing.”
