Alexander Central Baseball Blanks Ashe County

West Jefferson: Dillon Church and Gunnar Johnson combined on a 6 hit shutout for the Cougars. Church went 6.1 innings and Johnson got the final two outs.

The Cougars got their runs in the 5th on a 3-run homer by Sawyer Chapman-Mays who went 3-4 on the night.

Alexander Central has won 4 games in a row and sit at 10-6 overall and 5-1 in the Northwestern Conference. Ashe County falls to 9-8 and 1-5.

The game was rained out and will be played in Taylorsville on Saturday. First pitch is 11am at Central Park. The Lady Cougars will the host Piedmont High School (12-4) at 1pm.
