Law enforcement continues to search for a man who fled officers earlier today in the Bethlehem Community.
According to Sheriff Chris Bowman, deputies responded to a residence off Telephone Exchange Road in Bethlehem after they received information that a suspect with outstanding warrants was located there. When deputies arrived, a male subject fled the residence on foot heading into a wooded area. Bowman did not identify the suspect but indicated he has a number of warrants outstanding including larceny. At last sighting, the suspect had on a pair of red shorts, no shirt, and was possibly armed.
As a precaution, Bethlehem Elementary School was placed on Code-In status. There was never any indication the suspect was ever on or headed in the direction of the campus. As of 4:45pm, the suspect remains at large.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol is assisting in the search. More details as they become available.
