Iredell County – On Sunday, January 14, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to an airplane crash in Iredell County at 157 Normandy Road. A 2000 single-engine Cessna was attempting to land at Lake Norman Airpark, struck several trees, and crashed into the front yard of this residence.
The pilot, Peter Granow, 62, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, was transported by Iredell County EMS to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, in Charlotte, with serious injuries.
The NC Highway Patrol has secured the scene. The FAA will conduct an investigation.
