East Rowan 1 Alexander Central 0
Taylorsville: The highly-anticipated season (like always) for the Lady Cougars hit another speed-bump on Saturday as East Rowan left town with a 1-0 victory at Central Park.
The visitors took advantage of a shaky start by Kyla Hamby. The All-State shortstop is attempting to convert to the circle. She’s shown a lot of potential but so far, some struggles as well. Hamby lasted only two-thirds of an inning, walking three batters and a hit-batsman that plated the games lone run. Her freshman sister Ava, took-over and went the remainder of the game allowing no runs and scattering three hits.
East Rowan displayed some stellar glove work robbing AC of a number of hits including some highlight catches on the warning track. Charlotte Salmon went the distance for the Mustangs allowing 4 hits. The win improves East to 5-3.
Catcher Lyla Mayberry was 3-3 at the plate for AC
Ten games into the season, the Lady Cougars are 7-3 while continuing to struggle getting hits with runners on base. The coming week will see them go to Freedom on Tuesday, at Maiden on Wednesday and the first encounter of the season with South Caldwell on Friday.
East Rowan…1 run…3 hits…1 error
Alex Central..0 runs..4 hits…0 errors
