Alexander Central’s Basketball Teams host Watauga tonight and for the Cougar Women, it’s a must win.
Watauga’s Lady Pioneers enter the game at 5-1 in Northwestern Conference play including a 51-47 victory over the Lady Cougars on January 14th in Boone. Watauga is 17-2 and led by freshman Kate Sears who averages 18.1 points per game. Coach Jon Presnell’s Lady Cougars are 3-2 in league play and 15-3. AC is led by a pair of seniors, Chesney Stikeleather at 14.8 ppg and Juliana Walter at 10.8. A win tonight for ACHS would tighten the league race but if Watauga gets the win, they’re nearing the regular season crown.

The Cougar Men enter tonight’s game atop the conference at 4-1 and 16-3. They disposed of Watauga last month 41-27. Evan Presnell is having an outstanding senior season averaging 17.3 points. Avery Cook adds 10 ppg.
