Officials have confirmed a fatal fire this afternoon in Alexander County.
Taylorsville, Hiddenite, and Sugar Loaf Fire Departments responded shortly after 3pm to a residence on Clearview Lane north of Taylorsville. The double wide mobile home structure was engulfed in flames when units arrived. A body was found inside the dwelling.

Police, Alexander County Fire Marshall’s Office, Alexander Rescue, Alexander County EMS, and Alexander County Office of Emergency Services are on the scene at this time.

Update:
Alexander County Marshall Mark Earle says a female in her 60’s died in the fire. Earle says, “Her body was found near the front door, it looks like she was trying to get out but didn’t make it.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The name of the victim is expected to be released Friday morning.
