15-Year-Old Leads Catawba County Deputy On High Speed Chase Monday Morning

March 17, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

A 15-year old led a Catawba County Deputy on a high-speed chase Monday morning. It didn’t end well.

According to multiple media reports, the pursuit ended when the juvenile crashed and knocked down powerlines along Plateau Road near Fred T Foard High School. The collision caused a power outage for hundreds of customers in the area. Foard High did not have classes scheduled for the day.

The teen was injured and taken to an area hospital where they are listed in stable condition.

The teen driver was reported to have reached speeds of 130 miles per hour.

Investigators are consulting with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention regarding what charges the teen will face.
