Vada Sherill Named To Pfeiffer Athletics Hall Of Fame

August 20, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

Vada Sherrill

On the very short list of the greatest softball players in Alexander Central history, Vada Sherill has been named to the Pfeiffer University Hall of Fame.

A native of Hiddenite, North Carolina, Sherrill played shortstop for the Pfeiffer softball program from 2015-2019, becoming one of the most decorated athletes in Pfeiffer history. She holds the top spot in almost every offensive category and boasts individual records in the Pfeiffer record books for career batting average, on-base percentage, at-bats, hits, runs, stolen bases, RBIs, home runs, total bases, and walks.

She is the only player across all NCAA divisions to record over 200 hits (251), runs scored (255), RBIs (200), and stolen bases (201) in a career. Her accolades include being a two-time NFCA All-American, Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year in 2016, ECAC Player of the Year in 2018 and a finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player of the Year award in 2019.

During her senior season, Sherrill led the USA South in batting average (.508), home runs (16), RBIs (69), and stolen bases (56), earning her the title of Pfeiffer’s Female Athlete of the Year and USA South’s Player of the Year. Her leadership and performance helped guide the Falcons through a successful transition from NCAA Division II to Division III competition.

Following her playing career, Sherrill served as an assistant softball coach at Pfeiffer from 2019 to 2023, overseeing offensive development and defensive strategy. She also directed the Knapp Fitness Center, the university’s student recreation hub.

In 2023, she was named Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, where she managed a wide range of tasks, from game-day operations and facilities to vendor relations and special events. Beyond these responsibilities, Sherrill launched the Falcon Sports Media team, which enabled students to gain professional experience by producing and distributing content for Pfeiffer Athletics. She also provided support for the Falcon Club’s fundraising efforts.

Vada will be inducted at a reception and ceremony to be held on Sept. 19, 2025 in the Grady Board Room in the Stokes Student Center on the Misenheimer campus.
