Caldwell County Authorities Make Fentanyl Bust

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office confirms that on Tuesday, July 15, the Department’s I.C.E. Unit arrested 31-year-old Patrick Lowell Wallace of Granite Falls following a joint investigation with the Lenoir Police Department and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 54 grams of Fentanyl, valued at $10,800 according to North Carolina State Drug Guidelines, and a handgun.

The arrest occurred after Narcotics Agents observed Wallace, a known suspect with an outstanding warrant for Trafficking Fentanyl, traveling on Grace Chapel Road in Granite Falls. Agents followed him to his residence on Berry Creek Circle, where they made the arrest without incident. A search revealed the Fentanyl and handgun in Wallace’s waistband. He was charged with the initial Trafficking Fentanyl warrant, along with two additional counts of Trafficking in Fentanyl and Maintaining a Vehicle for Narcotics, and was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.

Sheriff Kevin H.Bean stated, “The Caldwell County Sheriff’s I.C.E. Unit is out in the field every day trying to stop the influx of Fentanyl into our county. This is an important arrest. This Fentanyl seizure is saving lives.”
