Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell has released information regarding an incident that took place on Thursday, May 29.
Iredell County Deputies responded to the 1000 block of Wall Street near Statesville in reference to an active shooting. According to reports, suspects in a black vehicle had been involved in a road rage incident and were now shooting at a residence on Wall Street.
Deputies quickly arrived on the scene, located the suspect vehicle, and established a perimeter with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies. Sheriff’s office canines and drones began looking for the suspects. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on location and began processing the scene and conducting interviews.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the shooting stemmed from a disagreement between two groups of people at a local job fair. Two vehicles were seen on a surveillance video leaving the job fair. Shots were fired from one vehicle at the other as it drove toward Wall Street. Once on Wall Street, the victims returned fire, and the suspects fled on foot.
Detectives were able to obtain several witness statements and evidence at the scene to identify the three suspects in the vehicle.
