Wilkes County Man Sentenced To Minimum 35 Years For Child-Sex Related Crimes

A Wilkes County man has been sentenced to between 35 and 77 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony sex crimes.

Brandon Tyler Roten, age 30 of North Wilkesboro, pleaded guilty to one felony count each of statutory rape of a child by an adult, indecent liberties with a child, solicitation of a child by computer and 15 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office charged Roten in October 2024.

Roten’s mother, Phoebe Roten, age 54, has been charged with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor as part of the same investigation. Her case is still pending.
