Harmony– On Sunday, May 11, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Iredell County on Saw Mills Road near Union Grove Road. A 2019 Polaris RZR was traveling northwest on Saw Mills Road when the driver lost control, crossed the center line, drove off the left side of the road, and overturned.
The driver, Seth Allen Paynter, 25, of Statesville, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The initial investigation indicates that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, Saw mills Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
