Newton: It might have made no difference but for sure it added a little extra motivation. When the seedings for the annual holiday baseball event were released last week, Alexander Central was seeded 6th. Some viewed it as an insult !

Coach Pete Hardee when asked before the first game about getting the #6 seed, he offered a wry smile and said “I like having to come from back there.”

Newt Rexrode went the distance on the mound for the win.

Ty Matheson went 4-for-4 and scored twice. Koa Mikeal drove-in three runs. Graham Hoke, Maddix Reese and Kade Church had 3 rbi each. Wade Queeen went 2 of 4 and was selected as Tournament MVP having 8 hits in the three games. Ty Matheson and Carter Bowman joined Queen on the All-Tournament Team.

The Cougars are 15-8
