‘Tis the Season ! It’s that time of year when we think about those on our Christmas Shopping list and for some,it’s the time of year to practice larceny or more accurately, Shop Lifting !
Taylorsville Police Chief Dennis James says that local businesses do what they can but they become targets during the Holidays. James and his officers know they will be spending a lot of time investigating complaints involving shoplifting for the next 3 weeks or so.
To date Taylorsville Police have recorded 114 incidents involving shoplifting, concealment of goods, and misdemeanor larceny in 2016. They might match those numbers between now and Christmas.
The most targeted business by far is the local Walmart. The store has a loss prevention officer on duty and many would-be shoplifters will be nabbed. With the cooperation of Taylorsville police we plan to identify those who are charged.
Chief James will be providing updates between now and Christmas on those charged so if you don’t wan’t your name on the Radio, pay for it !
