According to United States District Court documents obtained by B86 News, an investigation began in June of 2016 by the Office Of Homeland Security involving the alleged drug distribution by 53 year old Joel Stephen Carter of Blue Jay Lane in Taylorsville and 46 year old Kevin Lynn Mundy of All Healing Springs Road also of Taylorsville.
The court document outlines the investigation and indicates on March 14, 2017, the investigative team received information that Mundy was preparing to travel from Alexander County to Charlotte for the purpose of meeting his source of supply for methamphetamine with the intention of distributing the drugs in Alexander County.
Officers witnessed Mundy making contact with another defendant ( name witheld) and purchase methamphetamine. Munday was stopped in Gaston County by a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper who discovered in excess of 4 ounces of methamphetamine. Court records indicate that Mundy had distributed in excess of 500 grams of meth.
On March 19th Joel Stephen Carter fled officers in Alexander County. Carter was seen throwing methamphetamine from his vehicle. Law Enforcement recovered the meth and apprehended Carter who confessed to trafficking in over 500 grams of meth with Mundy.
Carter and Mundy are being held by Federal Authorities at an undisclosed location while they await trial.
