Prosecutors announced during Catawba County Superior Court on Wednesday that they will pursue capital punishment in the murder case against Micky Lee Swink age 33 of Hickory but will avoid the death sentence in the case of 50 year old Tina Louise Swink of Taylorsville.
Micky Swink is accused of killing 66-year-old Patricia Diane Swink at her residence in Hickory on Oct. 31, 2016.
Officials said Micky Swink was the victim’s son and Tina Swink was her niece.
A third defendant, Richard Deal, age39 of Hildebran, faces charges for accessory after the fact.
Hickory Police Department arrested the three suspects after numerous interviews from their response to a call on Tuesday, Nov. 1 regarding a death at Patricia Swink’s home. The victim’s vehicle also was stolen from her residence but was later recovered.
