The Taylorsville Town Board of Commissioners met Tuesday evening. The Board accepted the conditions for a $300,000 loan with zero interest from the State of North Carolina to be used for the instillation of solar panels at the Town’s Wastewater treatment facility. The solar operation will supply electrical power to operate the plant. The project is expected to begin in 2017.
Town Manager David Odom announced the sidewalk project near the CVCC Alexander Center will begin in 2017 as well.
A formal article of support for the location of a new medical practice was heard and approved. Dr Bobby P. Kearney M.D. is planning to establish an office in Taylorsville,. Dr Kearney currently operates an Addiction Recovery Center in Statesville.
Manager Odom addressed his concern over the parking and litter issue at the former Alexander County Hospital parking lot. In addition to the home of the County Farmers Market and the home of a yard sale/ flea market the parking lot has become something of a gathering place at night. Odom offered that if the area continues to be left in disarray the site could be deemed off limits.
