The Taylorsville Town Board of Commissioners met Tuesday evening at Town Hall.
The Board awarded a tentative bid for for the sewer plant upgrade to a firm from Monroe, NC. The bid is pending approval from the State. The estimated cost of the project is $1.8 Million. The project could begin as early as January 2017.
The Board set a public hearing concerning the possible closure of a 1 block section of 2nd Street. The block is located between the former Dayton property and the former Trio building, The Public Hearing will be part of the December agenda.
A proposal was heard from Northwood Properties concerning the possible deeding of 10 acres of property to the town. The board will review the proposal.
Friday will be “Opal Watts Harrington Day” in Taylorsville. Harrington is considered to the be the Town’s Historian according to City Manage David Odom. On Friday, Harrington will celebrate her 90th birthday.
