A Taylorsville man is facing a series of charges after his arrest following a chase.
Saturday evening around 8pm a vehicle was stopped at a license check on South Center Street. The driver confessed to not having a license. The driver then sped away. Taylorsville Officers along with assistance from The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office pursued the vehicle onto 1st Avenue Drive SE before attempting to turn onto Pop Davis Road. The vehicle ran off the roadway and crashed into a tree in the Taylorsville Cemetery. According to the arrest report the vehicle reached 70 miles per hour in a 25 MPH zone prior to the crash.
53 year old Joel Stephen Carter of Henry Road in Taylorsville was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, obstructing/resisting arrest, and driving while impaired. He was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center and is scheduled to make an initial court appearance today.
