Taylorsville Police Department stopped a suspicious vehicle on Buffet Boulevard. The vehicle had turned
its lights off and officers noticed a juvenile running toward a wooded area.
Officers also noticed an adult male walking behind the juvenile. The officer approached the individuals and asked
for identification. The officer was told that the juvenile had lost his phone while using the restroom
earlier in the night. A search of the suspicious vehicle was conducted and marijuana and a marijuana pipe
were found. Also during the search, officers found traffic warning triangles and paperwork that belonged
to a construction vehicle, along with inspection and registration papers that were registered to a dump
truck belonging to a construction company, as well as batteries, tie down chains, and straps. Michael
James Lester II, W/M, age 36 of Taylorsville was arrested and charged with Breaking & Entering a Motor
Vehicle, Larceny after Breaking & Entering, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Multiple Traffic
Charges, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The juvenile also was charged
with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle and Larceny after Breaking & Entering. Lester was transported
to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was issued a $30,000 secured bond with a first
appearance scheduled for June 6, 2016 in Alexander County District Court.
