Wednesday’s heavy rain has caused a major issue on Commercial Park Drive in Taylorsville. During the deluge the culvert under the roadway and the concrete barrier around it crumbled causing a portion of the street to collapse. What was a small hole around 3 feet in diameter to what is now a complete washout, the Town of Taylorsville has a significant repair project in front of them.
Town Public Works Director David Robinette said this morning ‘This is going to be a major repair that will take some time.” For now repair crewmembers are securing the area. The section of street “is closed and will remain closed until this project is completed” said Town Manager David Odom. The location is near the CVCC Alexander Center and the County Law Enforcement Center. “The fiber-optic communication lines that run under the street have been exposed which is another concern” according to Robinette. No word on a timetable for the repair.
