According to Alexander Central Principal Doug Rhoney the student who was overheard Wednesday implying a bomb was on campus has been suspended. Rhoney said the suspension is per school policy and the extent of the suspension will be determined by County Schools Administration.
Wednesday morning the campus was placed on CODE OUT status. The campus buildings were evacuated and students and staff assembled in the Football Stadium. Taylorsville Police and the Alexander County Sheriffs Office searched the campus and no device was found. The all clear was given in about an hour.
Rhoney mentioned on Thursday that staff handled the situation according to protocol and he praised the outstanding response from law enforcement.
Taylorsville Police Chief Dennis James says his department’s findings have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office who will decide if criminal charges will be filed
