Last Thursday morning around 7:30 Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on North Thomas Lane in Stony Point in reference to a home invasion. The female occupant of the residence told officers she had been bound with a rope by her neck and hands by an unknown man. She said she was able to free herself and go to a neighbor’s home and call 911.
A nearby Day Care and Stony Point Elementary School were placed on “Code In “ briefly as result of the report. Following an investigation there was no evidence to support the woman’s claim according to Sheriff Chris Bowman. Sheriff Bowman said, “ We take this very seriously because of the time spent by officers when they could have been conducting other duties.”
35 year old Jessica Hamrick Bowlin is charged with filing a false police report. Bowlin has admitted to fabricating the story about the home invasion. She was released Friday on an unsecured bond following her arrest. She has a court date scheduled for April 24th.
