A man suspected shooting a victim riding a scooter rider in West Statesville has turned himself in to Statesville Police.
Craig Alan Blackwell Jr., 24, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm in city limits.
His secured bond was set at $275,000.
The victim was 26-year-old Antonio Dominic Imes, police say. His condition following the shooting has not been released. Officers responded to the intersection of Park Drive and Bristol Road at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. Imes was treated on the scene for multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The Tuesday shooting was the second in Statesville in as many days. A 34 year old male was shot in the foot on Monday on Caldwell Street while also riding a scooter. Statesville Police have not commented if they think the two incidents are related.
