A trial date has been set for a Statesville man charged in the 2013 kidnapping, robbery and murder of 88-year-old Lindsey Stikeleather.
Bobby Joe Jackson will face the death penalty in a trial, which is expected to start in Iredell County Superior Court the week of July 25.
According to Iredell County Sheriff’s Office investigators in March 2013, Jackson called Stikeleather and asked for help repairing a scooter. After luring Stikeleather away from his home, Jackson forced him to withdraw a large amount of money from a Statesville bank.
Stikeleather’s body was found three days later under a bridge near the intersection of Eufola and Lamb roads, about two miles from where the body was found.
Jackson was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree kidnapping. He’s been awaiting trial ever since.
