Alexander County Schools issued the following statement this afternoon:
Approximately 12:28 p.m., an alarm was set off at Taylorsville Elementary School prompting a code down. The Taylorsville Police Department and Alexander County Sheriff’s Department responded immediately. School staff followed the safety protocol flawlessly. The school was checked with all students and staff were accounted for prior to the code down being cleared at 1:00 p.m. Law enforcement has thoroughly checked and cleared the building. The school resumed normal activities for the remainder of the afternoon. Some law enforcement will remain on campus just as a safety precaution. Again, Taylorsville Elementary campus is completely safe and we will have for normal afternoon dismissal at regular time.
We thank Alexander County Law Enforcement and Taylorsville Elementary staff for a quick response and for ensuring our students are safe at all times. We appreciate the opportunity to love and care for your children.
