Federal indictments were presented in Charlotte Thursday for 3 men from Alexander County. The Court documents suggest that a shooting that left one wounded was a well-planned ambush on an alleged informant for the U.S. Federal Drug Task force.
We broke the story Monday and have been following it all week. 1 man suffered non life threatning gun shot wounds in a shoot-out off Pine Tree Lane which is near Wittenburg Elementary School. The shoot-out took place shortly before 9pm last Saturday. The criminal complaint filed in court charges 23 year old William Cody Elder, 42 year old Michael Wayne Little, and Joshua Thomas Smith age 35. All three men list Alexander County residences. The indictments indicate the 3 were involved in a “well planned and coordinated ambush”. The Court says Smith was struck with 2 shots and was treated and released from a Hickory Hospital. At least 1 female was present during the gunfire but her role is unclear, nor has she been named.
One of the 3, (alleged to be Smith) had helped Federal Authorities in a major Meth Bust in Atlanta back in June. Over 7 pounds of Meth was confiscated. Little and Smith were arrested by Federal Officers Thursday afternoon. Elder surrendered to Federal Authorities today.
