Summer on the Square
Friday, July 15th
On Friday, July 15th, the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s annual Summer on the Square free concert series will continue the 2016 season with another outstanding performance from Alexander County’s own, “The Shake Down Band.” Summer on the Square is made possible through the Center’s partnership with the Town of Taylorsville and Alexander County Government.
The concert begins at 7:00pm and is held on the Alexander County Courthouse lawn in Taylorsville (29 W Main Avenue). In case of rain, Summer on the Square will be moved to the Center’s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road). Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for their convenience. Concessions will be available for sale from the 957 Mobile Cafe.
Known for their unique blend of beach music, rock ‘n roll, Motown, and Top 40, Shake Down is a six-piece variety band that provides a mixture of both past and present. Featuring Harry Schrum, Matt Schrum, Meredith Schrum, Zach Tyner, Roger Icenhour, and Billy Rose, Shake Down entertains audiences with energetic music that appeals to all ages.
Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center events, exhibits, and programs are made possible in part through the generous funding of Alexander County government, the Town of Taylorsville, the Eileen and R. Y. Sharpe Family Foundation, The Winston Salem Foundation, Duke Energy, the Catawba Valley Community Foundation, the Friends of the Center membership program, and by the Grassroots Grant of the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion and Educational Complex are wheelchair accessible.
