The National Weather Service has issued the following Severe Weather Statement”
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, piedmont
North Carolina, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.
.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.
Ahead of a cold front, gusty south to southwest winds are expected
today across the area. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph may be seen at
As the front approaches the area later today, a line of showers and
strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to move into the Piedmont
and foothills by this evening. In addition to the potential for
locally heavy rain and frequent cloud to ground lightning, there will
be a threat of locally damaging winds. An isolated weak tornado also
cannot be ruled out. The greatest threat for severe weather is
expected in northeast Georgia and Upstate South Carolina along and
west of the I-26 corridor.
