The Ceremonial Processional of Fire Fighter Eric ‘Bubba’ Pennell from Chapman’s Funeral Home in Stony Point, NC to Millersville Baptist Church in Taylorsville will occur Saturday morning (04/22/2017) at approximately 11:00 a.m. This procession will have emergency services personnel and vehicles representing fire, rescue and law enforcement agencies from across North Carolina.
The processional will follow HWY 90 west from Stony Point toward Taylorsville. In Taylorsville the procession will turn south onto NC Highway 16 and continue to Millersville Baptist Church.
Family visitation, funeral service and Last Call for Fire Fighter Pennell will immediately follow the processional. The funeral is open to the public; however, seating may be limited because of the number of attendees expected.
The family will receive friends at Millersville Baptist Church, 130 Millersville Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681 on April 22, 2017 from 1:00 until 3:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Orren and Rev. Brian Kerley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Fire Fighter Michael Eric ‘Bubba’ Pennell (pronounced PEN-uhl) died in the line of duty on Monday, April 17, 2017 while working at Central Alexander Fire Department in Taylorsville. Fire Fighter Pennell also worked for the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office – 911 Center as a telecommunicator.
He is survived by his wife Amy; his sisters, Nadine Plumley, Teresa Bumgarner and husband Randy; and Janet King and husband, Denver; a niece Jessie Plumley Reeves; and nephews, Steven Ester, Jason Bumgarner, Darren Bumgarner, and Nathan King. He is also survived by his father and mother in law Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Mecimore, and all his friends and colleagues in the Alexander County Emergency Services.
