A Taylorsville man entered a plea of no contest to charges of felony embezzlement in Alexander County Superior Court Tuesday.
54 year old Mark Douglas Odom was indicted June 15th, 2015 for embezzling over $200,000 dollars from Adams Funeral Home in Taylorsville while he was serving as General Manager.
Odom will avoid serving an active sentence as he pleaded no contest to 4 Class H felony counts of Embezzlement.
Two of the 4 felonies were consolidated for judgement to run consecutively with the remaining two giving him 3 consecutive sentences of 8 months minimum, 10 months maximum, suspended for 5 years supervised probation on the conditions that he:
1. Pay $150,000 in restitution, of which he paid $110,000 today in court;
2. Perform 48 hours of community service; and
3. Get a substance abuse assessment and any recommended treatment.
His supervised probation may be transferred to unsupervised probation after 3 years if he completes all the conditions and pays the remaining restitution.
Odom was represented by Taylorsville attorney Joel Harbinson.
