The Alexander County Christmas Parade Committee is already at work, and this means that it is time for businesses, manufacturers, civic groups, churches, schools and others to begin planning for the upcoming event. The 71st Version of the Alexander County Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 3:00 p.m.
At this time, the Committee is evaluating last year’s event, making changes to registration forms, preparing for new participants, securing floats and looking for the Grand Marshall for the event. Each year the Parade Committee recognizes the efforts of one individual or a group of people who have contributed to the quality of life in Alexander County and who have earned the accolades of our fellow citizens. This year is no exception!
Grand Marshalls are selected each year through a nomination process. The process is simple and nominees not chosen are carried over to future years. Persons wishing to nominate a Grand Marshall may do so by composing a letter of nomination. This letter should include the name of the nominee, the achievements of the nominee in contributing to the quality of life of Alexander County, and why the person doing the nomination feels that the nominee is worthy of this honor.
All letters of nomination can be mailed to: Alexander Christmas Parade, 376 First Avenue SW , Taylorsville, NC 28681 OR e-mail nominations to AlexanderChristmasParade@gmail.com by September 30, 2017.
Official registration and rental of floats for this year’s parade will begin in late August; however, now is the time to begin planning to be a part of one of the biggest events in Alexander County. The 71st Christmas Parade will be a rousing success with the cooperation and participation of businesses and community groups throughout the County. If your business or group has never participated, or used to participate; then NOW is the time to begin the planning process to contribute to this year’s effort! Watch for additional information and details as they become available.
