Beginning today, if you operate a Moped in North Carolina the bike must be insured.
The Division of Motor Vehicles mailed notices to 28,000 owners reminding them of the new law. Moped owners whose vehicles are registered with the NCDMV received an initial notice regarding the new law in April.
Moped owners are now required to provide proof of liability insurance coverage. Failure to provide proof of insurance could result in the license plate being revoked.
