Hiddenite’s Josh McLain is about to start living his dream, the dream of millions to play professional baseball. McLain, who just completed a stellar career at NC State was taken in the 9th round of the Major League draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers last week. On Monday, McLain flew to Arizona and will start working out with the Dodger Rookie League team.
McLain led the Atlantic Coast Conference in hits this Spring. He batted .344 with four homers and 40 RBI for the Wolfpack in 2018.
Meanwhile, Alexander Central Senior Pitcher Zachary Hammer is still yet to sign with the New York Mets according to his mother Stacy. Hammer was taken in the 21st round and it’s anticipated that Hammer will sign before the end of this week.
