On June 11, 2018, Jeremy Leatherman was in Superior Court before the Honorable Judge Mark Klass. Leatherman pled guilty to Failure to Register as a sex offender, Being on a restricted premise, and Habitual Felon. He was sentenced to 207-273 months in the NC Department of Public Safety.
In June of 2017 the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Jeremy Lewis Leatherman, white male, age 27 of Burke County for Failing to Register as a sex offender in Alexander County. Leatherman is a registered sex offender in Burke County but moved to Alexander County and did not change his address. He was arrested on June 21, 2017 for Failure to Register and Driving while license Revoked. He was placed under a $50,000 secured bond. Additional charges were file on June 25, 2017 for Sex Offender on Restricted Premises. The offender went to the Alexander County Library and to the playground at McDonalds. He was given an additional $30,000 secured bond. On August 28, 2017 he was charged with Habitual Felon and Sex offender employment violations. Leatherman was babysitting children while being a registered sex offender. Another $10,000 secured bond was placed on Leatherman. Leatherman was charged in Burke County for Failure to change his address.
